Bandung, Jumpaonline – Walhi Jawa Barat menyelenggarakan aksi bertema “Yang Patah Masa Depan, Yang Hilang Keadilan Lingkungan Bagi Antar Generasi”, bertempat di depan pelataran Gedung Sate pada Senin, 5 Juni 2023. Aksi ini guna memperingati hari lingkungan hidup sedunia dan ajang untuk menyuarakan keresahan masyarakat terhadap isu-isu lingkungan saat ini.
Rahma, Moderator Aksi, menyampaikan, salah satu poin penting yang menjadi pembahasan utama sekaligus daya tarik anak muda pada aksi kali ini yaitu mengenai isu plastik dan sampah. Ia mengungkapkan keresahannya terkait meningkatnya limbah plastik yang seharusnya menjadi tanggung jawab produsen, namun dilimpahkan ke konsumen untuk mengolah sampah tersebut.
“Jadi diskusi kita hari ini akan membahas isu lingkungan dari berbagai poin, tapi yang paling utamanya adalah isu plastik dan persampahan. Ketika berbicara soal sampah plastik, kita sebagai konsumen memiliki tanggung jawab lebih besar untuk mendaur ulangnya, padahal perusahaan terus memproduksi plastik tanpa ada solusi untuk mengolah sampah tersebut sehingga limbahnya sangat banyak,” ungkap Rahma.
Caca, Penggiat Aksi, menjelaskan, konsumsi plastik secara terus-menerus dapat berdampak pada terkurasnya sumber daya alam mengingat bahan utama pembuatan plastik ini adalah minyak bumi yang sumber energinya terbatas, dan jika terus diproduksi akan berdampak juga kepada permasalahan lingkungan yang lebih serius. Ia menambahkan, isu plastik juga berkaitan dengan kesehatan, sampah plastik bisa menimbulkan penyakit yang membahayakan manusia karena mengandung senyawa-senyawa kimia dan sifatnya bisa berubah menjadi micro plastik.
“Plastik ini berasal dari minyak bumi, padahal minyak bumi adalah sumber energi yang terbatas, proses produksinya juga menggunakan energi yang jika di capture nantinya akan berpengaruh pada kondisi iklim. Lalu, isu plastik ini juga berkaitan dengan kesehatan, mengingat plastik katanya bisa berubah menjadi micro plastik yang bisa menimbulkan penyumbatan pembuluh darah dan kanker, karena ada senyawa-senyawa kimia di dalam plastik,” jelas Caca.
Dani Setiawan, Koordinator Aksi, mengungkapkan, semoga dengan diadakannya aksi ini akan menumbuhkan ketertarikan dari teman-teman muda tentang isu-isu seputar lingkungan hidup. Ia juga berharap, mereka sudah mulai dapat memperjuangkan hak-hak lingkungan hidupnya dengan bersama membangun kesatuan, dan mendorong pemerintah untuk membentuk peraturan-peraturan yang berkeadilan ekologis.
“Kami berharap untuk teman-teman muda sudah mulai memperhitungkan bagaimana hak mereka untuk memperoleh lingkungan hidup yang baik dan sehat, serta kedepannya tidak akan menutup kemungkinan kami akhirnya bersama-sama akan melakukan pernyataan sikap dari poin-poin yang diharapkan ,” ujar Dani.
