Kampusiana, Jumpaonline – Sabda Sastra, komunitas pencinta sastra di bawah naungan English Student Association (ESA) atau Himpunan Mahasiswa Sastra Inggris merupakan komunitas yang berdiri pada tahun 2006, oleh biro 3 minat dan bakat ESA yg menjabat tahun itu. Dengan tujuan awal sebagai medium apresiasi sastra, mereka berupaya mengetengahkan kesusastraan di antara mahasiswa.
Muhammad Iqbal, Ketua Umum Himpunan Mahasiswa Sastra Inggris dalam wawancara virtual pada Jumat, 18 Juni 2021 menyebutkan, komunitas ini tak hanya memperbolehkan mahasiswa dari jurusan sastra inggris saja melainkan jurusan lain pun bisa turut andil membangun sabda sastra.
“Anggota Sabda Sastra tidak hanya dari jurusan sastra inggris saja, tapi jurusan lain pun bisa masuk ke dalam sabda sastra,” ujar Iqbal.
Menurut Iqbal, perihal mengetengahkan kesusastraan di antara mahasiswa, Sabda Sastra ini membahas sastra dengan hal yang umum, seperti bedah buku, pembahasan puisi, dan lain halnya. Selain hal tersebut, mereka berupaya membangun relasi dengan jurusan lain yang memiliki kesamaan ihwal kesusastraan.
“Kami mengambil jalan tengah untuk membahas hal yang umum, misal, bedah buku, bahas puisi. Kami pun baru saja berdiskusi sastra dengan Mahasiswa Bahasa Indonesia,” tambah Iqbal.
Iqbal mengatakan, imbas pandemi, partisipasi mahasiswa terhadap sastra mengalami penurunan karena sulit melakukan interaksi secara intensif dan tidak memungkinkan untuk bertemu virtual setiap saat. Oleh karenanya, kata Iqbal, banyak agenda yang tidak berjalan semestinya dan perlu diagendakan ulang.
“Karena pandemi, partisipasi mahasiswa mengalami penurunan, karena gak mungkin kita ngezoom terus-menerus, jadi banyak jadwal yang tertunda,” ujar Iqbal.
Sementara itu, untuk mengembangkan komunitas ini Iqbal berharap, agar sastra tidak dipandang sebelah mata, karena cakupan sastra itu luas, lagu tidak akan ada jika tak ada lirik, film terdapat naskah, di mana ada campur tangan sastra.
“Harapannya, sastra gak dipandang sebelah mata, karena banyak hal berkaitan dengan sastra,” pungkas Iqbal.
